TODAY'S NEWS: In a Perfect World, the Academy Awards show doesn't include live performances of the nominated songs, extraneous film montages, or lame "spontaneous" banter between presenters. If they stuck to an Opening Monologue, giving out awards, the "In Memoriam" montage and a brief speech by the Academy President (like last night's 60-second one), everyone could be out of there in an hour. Just my opinion, of course...
